LOCATION: The Municipality of Montemurlo in the Province of Prato counts 18.000 inhabitants and a huge and diverse multicultural community. Montemurlo is a lively place; thanks to its green and natural surroundings, Montemurlo displays the typical countryside leisure paired to the main urban facilities. MEETING POINT
The meeting point will be in MONTALE/AGLIANA TRAIN STATION. The 1° Meeting point will be on Thursday 26th June at 2.00 p.m (14.00). The 2° Meeting point will be on Thursday 26th June at 7.00 p.m (19.00)
DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITIES:
Volunteers will be involved in working activities for about 30 hours per week.
The aim of the workcamp is to restore, clean and re-assess an environmental/didactical center in “LE VOLPAIE” location which is at the beginning of the “Monteferrato protected area” of Montemurlo where all the mountain pathways start. This place has been managed by the local group of G.I.R.O.S (the Italian association for the protection of ORCHIDS) that thanks to their passion has recover this area from a local dump to a protected naturalistic court. Monteferrato area is in fact a very special area where rare Orchids species grows. In this outdoor naturalistic laboratory (website). The local expertises of GIROS will deliver at the beginning of the workcamp useful information to distinguish between protected species (orchids, mediterrean spot’s herbs) from infestant species. Every day it will take almost 30 minutes by feet to reach “Le Volpaie”.
